A few days after her solo set for Flying Out on Record Store Day, Princess Chelsea and the Dream Warriors played 2 shows on April 27th and 28th. The venue was “The Apartment” on K Road—which is literally just someone’s flat. It was super tiny, with everyone packed tight and instruments piled up in one corner. That cramped space created such an intimate vibe, without a real stage, it felt less like a gig and more like dropping in on a friend’s chill rehearsal.
Half Sister opened the night. They’re a three-piece with guitar, keys, and drums, playing a really trippy, psychedelic style. Some of the keyboard tones had that thick 70s retro feel, which totally vibed with the intimacy of the room. It was just really comfortable to listen to.
Then Princess Chelsea and the Dream Warriors came out with seven band members in all – a seriously stacked lineup. These musicians were all over the place, switching between instruments like guitars, bass, keys, and even a Hawaiian guitar (everyone except the drummer was swapping around). The songs had these long instrumental sections, feeling like a really tight, organized jam. The guitarist was especially high-energy, rocking out as much as the tiny space would allow. The whole band’s energy was through the roof. Chelsea has that signature ethereal voice that fits the band perfectly, moving from soft whispers to those high notes. Everyone in the crowd was just soaked in it, all smiles. Even though they only played six songs, like she said, they were all “long enough.”
