The Jungle Giants Announce an Epic Line-up of Opening Acts for New Zealand Tour

The Jungle Giants New Zealand Tour 2026

Hot on the heels of the release of their new album, EXPERIENCING THE FEELINGS OF JOY, and fresh from a hugely successful run of shows across Australia, The Jungle Giants are now setting their sights on New Zealand.

Heading across the Tasman next week, the Brisbane indie favourites kick off their electrifying tour at Meow Nui in Wellington on Friday July 10, The Powerstation in Auckland on Saturday July 11, and in Christchurch at the James Hay Theatre on Saturday July 12.

Adding to the excitement, the band has today revealed a stellar line-up of local support acts for each New Zealand show.

In Wellington, First Reserve will join the line-up. First Reserve‘s exhilarating live performances have amassed a cult of devoted supporters both in their hometown of Te Whanganui-a-Tara and beyond. On stage, their sound is both intimate and larger-than-life, combining influences from alt-rock, indie-folk, and pop.

Joining The Jungle Giants in Auckland is CRYSTAL. Wellington-raised, Auckland-based rising indie pop force CRYSTAL (Crystal Amor-Ponter, Te Atiawa) is quickly making a name for herself in the Aotearoa music scene. Her electronica-meets-alt-pop musical roots trace back to the Wellington scene in 2019, where she quickly grew from DIY gigs and releases, studies in Commercial Music at Massey University, to performances at CubaDupa and Newtown Festivals. CRYSTAL releases her new EP later this year, featuring current single ‘Past Life’.

Rising rock act The Response will take the stage in Christchurch. Entering their breakout chapter with their latest single ‘Where Do You Run To?’, which hit #1 on New Zealand rock radio, they are a duo with serious stage power to watch.

And joining The Jungle Giants across all three New Zealand dates will be The Tullamarines. Telling their stories through a shared perspective that feels intimate, honest, and quietly uplifting. Josh, Angus, Benny and Lucinda met on the local gig circuit, quickly bonding over a mutual love of songwriting and collaboration. From those early connections, they’ve crafted a sound that reflects each member’s individual sensibilities, a style they affectionately call cosy-pop. The Jungle Giants‘ fifth studio album, EXPERIENCING FEELINGS OF JOY, featuring NZ Hot charting single ‘Love Sick’, sees frontman Sam Hales channel crushing personal loss into hopeful exuberance, an album he could only write after believing he may never make another record again.

“I’d overextended and kind of cooked it, but I really found myself,” he says. “That’s where the joy comes from, having this unwavering hope even after experiencing adversity. This record is what everything culminated in for me, because I’m so in love with it and I’m so addicted to music again.”
