The Advocators “Beyond The Palisade” – Geihinkan, 5 September 2026: Review & Photo Gallery

The Advocators

A night of great local music at Geihinkan as Northland alt-country swamp-rockers The Advocators brought their Beyond The Palisade album-release tour to Auckland.

Koen Alder

Opening the night was Koen Alder, setting the mood with his intimate blend of soft rock and indie folk. A talented songwriter and storyteller, Koen brought warmth, melody and plenty of personality to the stage.

Napoleon Baby

Next up, Napoleon Baby turned up the intensity. Performing as a two-piece, the Auckland indie-rockers delivered their angular guitars, punchy rhythms and sharp songwriting with the kind of energy that grabs your attention and doesn’t let go.

The Advocators

Then it was time for The Advocators — a full six-piece bringing their gritty blend of alt-country, swamp rock, blues and plenty of twang to the Geihinkan stage. Their sound moves effortlessly between raucous hillbilly revelry and darker, more atmospheric country, making for a seriously compelling live show.

A great night celebrating Beyond The Palisade and three very different sides of Aotearoa’s independent music scene.
