Saturday night at a friend’s barbecue, I sat down with Rat Scabies, the drummer who helped define The Damned‘s sound in 1976. Nursing white wine and smoking rollies, Rat proved far more thoughtful than punk rock’s caricature might suggest. He is intelligent, reflective, and articulate.
