Last night, Sparks opened their New Zealand visit at Christchurch Town Hall, launching The Very Best Of tour with a performance that drew from across the band’s long and distinctive career. Ron and Russell Mael brought together decades of musical evolution and creativity, giving New Zealand audiences their first chance to experience the influential duo live. The evening marked the beginning of a long-awaited visit from one of pop music’s most unique and enduring acts.
Nina McMillin had her cameras ready for Spark’s first ever show in New Zealand. Tomorrow Greg Haver will have the honour to photograph the show in Auckland and John Kempt will bw there with pen and paper.
