Irish rap renegades KNEECAP today announce their return to New Zealand for two dates in February 2027, as part of a worldwide tour revealed to fans yesterday. The freshly announced shows are a follow up to their blistering run of dates across Aotearoa and Australia in 2025 that left critics raving and audiences heaving.
“Aotearoa we are coming. It’ll be almost 2 years since we landed on your shores. One of our favourite places on earth…we are buzzing to get back.” – KNEECAP
Presented by I OH YOU and MG Live, it is a thrill to welcome back KNEECAP to New Zealand for dates in February. Kicking off in Auckland on Tuesday 9 February 2027, followed by Wellington on Wednesday 10 February.
Kneecap – Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí – redefine language, politics and put on a riotous live performance. Their last New Zealand appearances set a new bar for what a rap show could be and a sense that live music could still feel dangerous, joyful and necessary.
On their remarkable second album FENIAN released in May this year to critical acclaim and produced by Dan Carey, Kneecap have come out fighting, sharpening their sound and expanding their vision delivering a record that is darker, more confrontational and more assured. Featuring singles Liars Tale and Smugglers & Scholars, FENIAN confirms Kneecap operating at the height of their powers and now their return to Aotearoa promises the same mix of provocation and celebration that made their previous shows instant legend.
Their Australian visit in 2025 saw a free pop-up performance in Federation Square within the City of Melbourne on the evening of one of their three sold out shows at 170 Russell. With an estimated 10,000 people in attendance, it was one of the most talked about performances for months – watch HERE.
Lady Shaka will be joining Kneecap on this run of Aotearoa/New Zealand shows, a multifaceted DJ, producer, and interdisciplinary artist whose rich heritage encompasses Samoan, Tokelauan, Mā’ohi (Tahitian), Māori, and Cape Verdean roots. Lady Shaka was named one of Mixmag’s Breakthrough Artists of 2025 which comes as no surprise, as she has also continued to showcase her production skills following on from her smash release E Tu, Shaka has remixed pop trio Flo on Island Records, and collaborated with Stan Walker and Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke on a remix for his track Mō Āke Tonu. Closing out 2025 with her second single Good Times featuring Rubi Du, a track that is an ode to Afro-Pacific Islanders, fusing ancestral and diasporic sounds from both Black and Pacific Island music. Looking further ahead with a 3rd single on NLV Records on the way and a few secret projects in the pipeline, the rise of Lady Shaka continues!
Kneecap alongside MG Live and I OH YOU will be making a $1 donation from every ticket sold to the Manaaki Rangatahi Youth Homelessness Collective which aims to prevent and end youth homelessness in Aotearoa New Zealand through a coordinated, evidence based, kaupapa Māori approach.
“The partnership with Kneecap is very exciting, an Irish group dedicated to revitalizing their reo (language) through their music is what we are all about, returning to your indigenous cultures language and practices is very healing, especially for our youth. We are inspired by their unrelenting decolonisation stance, which of course for us as tangata whenua, is an ongoing struggle without end. Manaaki Rangatahi is Aotearoa’s only national collective built to prevent and end youth homelessness, and we’re not stopping until the job is done. We advocate hard, we work together, and we revolutionise the housing system. We do it for our mokopuna (grandchildren) because youth homelessness will end in this generation.” – Bianca Johanson, Manaaki Rangatahi
Expect no prisoners, no apologies and no chance of walking away unchanged. Kneecap are back! And Aotearoa is about to feel it.
“Like diving headfirst into a whirlwind of raw energy, political defiance, and unbridled joy.” – 95bFM
“They delivered an explosive performance that had the crowd eating out of the palm of their hand from the moment they took to the stage” – The Post
“That raw energy is what makes their shows a complete frenzy.” Irresistible Magazine
“Narcotically familiar and ineffably fresh” – The Guardian, ★★★★
