Keli Holiday – Tuning Fork, 12 September 2025: Review & Photo Gallery

A dynamic set by Keli Holiday, better known as Adam Hyde, one half of Australian band Peking Duk, ahead of his yet untitled second album.

Yet another blustery Friday night in Tāmaki Makaurau saw a full house at the Tuning Fork

First up was Invercargill native Sam Cullen and his band of troubadours.

Sam is a fine songwriter and delivered his set with Springsteen levels of confidence to a crowd obviously aware of his fine catalogue.

Backed by an excellent band, including the omni-present Jessie Booth on guitar, they powered through a tight set of Sam’s songs, along with a soaring version of Florence and the Machine’s Dog Days Are Over.

Then, taking to the stage to the THX theme tune, Keli Holiday, drummer Molly Shield and guitarist Tommy Marland launched into a storming version of Do You Like It Or Not, before ramping into We Don’t Have To Know.

What Holiday does know is how to hold a crowd – via tales of his previous visits and exploits around the city. There’s an obvious joy from each member of the band, who attack every song with boundless enthusiasm.

After working through the songs Disco and Online Jesus, the set took a gentler turn with Holiday donning an acoustic guitar for several songs before surprising everyone by stepping things back up with a cover of Twist and Shout (yes, that one) which the now sweaty crowd embraced with glee.

As expected, the set finished with Dancing 2, the current single and clearly a crowd favourite.

Keli Holiday clearly loves the city of Auckland and based on this gig. The feeling is entirely mutual.
