Red Raven photographer Leonie Moreland is on the road with Zephyr Love as they take on their second US tour. She’s checking in from time to time, sharing photos and some of the excitement (and boredom) of life on the road.
Let’s go! Day 5-9!
Day 5 Wednesday July 16 – one the road
Today was a day of creating and putting up promos on socials for the next couple of shows.
We went to stay with Chris and Heart’s brother Jas, who’s a videographer and documentary maker.
Talked about how to set up cameras for a couple of gigs, talking through all the technical details and what the band likes to achieve. Heart and I cleaned the RV and Mama Bear did all the laundry. Everything sparkly for the last leg of the tour.
Day 6 Thursday 17 – San Marcos
Gig night! The band is playing in San Antonio tonight. Outside stage, a kind of ‘beer garden’, lovely atmosphere. The PA was on the small side but PJ, the sound engineer, made it work. Set up went smoothly in the blistering heat…
Great turn out and response from the audience, great vibe!
Day 7 Friday July 18 – On the road
Today was a busy day prepping for the Austin show.
Day 8 Saturday July 19
Time to rock Austin. Fantastic venue that has their sound and light sorted really well. Shout out to Sarah their sound and lighting engineer. The place filled up quickly and after two support acts, Zephyr Love took the stage at 10.30 and blew the roof of the house!
Day 9 Sunday July 20
After another very late night we all had a deserved sleep in. Later in the day we drove to downtown Austin to do a short photo shoot in SoCo, a vibrant part of Austin with a wonderful bohemian feel.
The band preferred to stay away from the typical tourists spots to do the shoot. The weather was hot and humid so we worked fast and treated ourselves to a cool drink.
