The evening kicked off with a vibrant pop quiz video, immersing the audience in the legacy of the original band through a captivating photo gallery, igniting a wave of nostalgia and anticipation.
The excitement escalated as the band launched into their opening number, Don’t Stop, with Amanda Morley, known as Bloom, leading the charge on vocals. Her powerful performance set the tone for a night filled with cherished memories and musical brilliance. After the first song, Bloom took a moment to connect with the audience, sharing the band’s heartfelt mission to honour the timeless sounds that have captivated fans for decades. It was clear that this was more than just a performance; it was a celebration of a musical legacy.
As the performance unfolded, the atmosphere was electrified by a clever infusion of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck into the classic Dreams, featuring the incredible guitar work of Eddy Santacreu. This dynamic twist had everyone on their feet, dancing and singing along. The haze that filled the venue beautifully reflected the dazzling light show, enhancing the overall experience and transportive quality of the music.
The intro to Tusk was particularly memorable, starting with the original video of the drum introduction. David Kirby, on drums, made a striking entrance, followed by his bandmates, each adding to the rich soundscape. The clarity of the sound was exceptional, with pumping bass from James Morley and crystal-clear vocals resonating throughout the venue, leaving the audience in awe. Amy Vee complemented the performance beautifully with her keyboard and vocal harmonies.
As the night reached its climax, the energy surged with Eddy’s electrifying shred mode during the encore, taking the performance to exhilarating new heights. My camera captured moments of sheer joy and passion, where each photograph tells a story of nostalgia and the magic of live music.
