Originally hailing from Adelaide in Australia, the eight members of Ukulele Death Squad descended on Aotearoa to play three headline shows, along with the Womad festival at the Bowl of Brooklands in New Plymouth.
The self described “most dangerous ukulele band” proved they were not kidding with a vibrant and encapsulating performance at Auckland’s Whammy Bar on Saturday night. Mixing funk, soul, R&B, folk and even elements of klezmer music in a heady energetic mix that kept the sold out show entertained and dancing all night.
After travelling around the world, it was great to finally have them perform on our shores.
