When White Chapel Jak hits the stage, it’s not just a concert—it’s a full-blown party. They have been hailed by NZ Idol judge Paul Ellis as “one of the hottest and exciting acts to emerge in NZ”. This powerhouse group has built a reputation for high-octane shows. Packed with soulful mash-ups, irresistible grooves, and nonstop energy, they keep the dance floor alive all night. From opening for legends like Ben Harper and Alanis Morissette to headlining festivals with the Auckland Symphony Orchestra, their journey has been nothing short of epic.
I had the privilege of photographing their Early Nights Tour, capturing the magnetic presence of superstar vocalist Bonnie Hurunui. Bonnie is an extraordinary entertainer whose vibrant charisma and effortless engagement with the crowd turn every show into a shared celebration. Alongside the heart-thumping rhythm of Viking drummer Dean Tinning, the fiery finesse of guitarist Nathan Boston, was the smooth, soulful basslines of Brinnie Nepia.
These images are a tribute to the joy, connection, and musical magic that define Whitechapel Jak—a band that doesn’t just play music, they live it.
