Red Raven photographer Leonie Moreland is on the road with Zephyr Love as they take on their second US tour. She’s checking in from time to time, sharing photos and some of the excitement (and boredom) of life on the road.
Let’s go! Day 2 San Jose
Day 2 Sunday July 13
Today was showtime in San Jose, Quatrenote Bar. Interesting venue, interesting music, interesting sound man who kept telling the band they had a decibel limit of 100…
Big decibel display above the entrance so no musician could overlook it…ever. Neither could the 2 Ninja Hero Turtles at either side of the stage be missed.
4 more bands played on that Sunday night. Everybody very friendly and welcoming.
At 2am a muso called James interviewed Chris, Heart and Arthur in the RV. James is starting his own podcast interviewing bands and Zephyr Love was his first . He did a great job.
Day 3 Monday July 14
Long 2 days ahead of us…2777km to get to Austin Texas. Roads are busy but traffic flows well until we hit roadworks a few times which delayed us significantly.
There were only trucks on the road, most of them lit like Christmas trees. Couldn’t help wondering which ‘presents’ they were taking where.
Heart and Chris take turns driving the 12m long RV with trailer. In the early morning hours we stopped at a truck stop and called it a night for a brief time.
Day 4 Tuesday July 15
Little over half way, 1360km to go today…
Driving through Cochise County Arizona was just beautiful. Desolate…
Texas scenery is a tat boring, time for a snooze…
Everyone on board is quiet and doing what needs doing.
While I’m trying to get some sleep I hear that the RV is like a band by itself, the rattling of the pots and pans, cutlery, windows and everything else that has the slightest movement has its part in this orchestra without a conductor…
